Library Advocacy Day 2018 and we're there!
Our Library Director Annmarie McAnany once again participated in the New York Library Association Advocacy Day in Albany, New York. Joining other libraries from the Ramapo Catskills Library System and from around the state, Director McAnany met with representatives to discuss important local issues that impact the library and the community quality of life.
The Sloatsburg Public Library is a unique community resource that provides an open door to everyone, promotes educational programming and is one part resource center and one part essential community asset.
McAnany was excited to represent the Sloatsburg community at #NYLALAD18 in Albany. In the photo, Director McAnany is center in a yellow scarf; behind Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffee, who represents Rockland County and Suffern, Sloatsburg’s sister village.
The Sloatsburg Public Library continues to ensure that our local library is seen and heard...because healthy local libraries matter!
Julia Roberts at the LibrarySloatsburg Library staff pulled a very late night in January 2018 when the Library hosted the Ben is Back movie production cast and crew. The Library acted as the night shoot headquarters for the independent film, written and directed by Peter Hedges. The film used several familiar Sloatsburg locations and features Lucas Hedges (the director’s son) and Julia Roberts, seen in the photo with glasses, making her way through the Library.
We provide a real value and we can prove it!
One of our priorities is to provide services and materials to school kids that have been lost due to recent school budget cuts. From homework help to story time and educational activities, we provide a real service to our younger patrons! We're excited about the many changes that have taken place over the past year and we want to share them with you. Come take a look, and see what your Library is doing for you!
Use the calculator at right to determine your library usage and what that use would cost if you had to pay for these items. We think you'll agree that your community library is a great value!
Entertainment, knowledge and sheer fun are an integral part of what we offer, but we also want you to think of the Library as one of the most important places to get the facts that you need to make life better. Last year's programs and resources were crafted to offer just that type of material to our patrons. We welcome your input and your ideas. Help us be the best we can be!
If you are a parent or student interested in sitting down with Sloatsburg Library staff to learn about new online resources, just call the front desk at 845-753-2001.
